Do you plan for success? Most of us wake up with a general idea of the things we have to do throughout the day. Perhaps you’ve developed a routine of taking a shower, getting dressed, doing your hair, eating breakfast, driving 30 or 45 minutes to work, and dealing with meetings, deadlines, and other assignments. These ‘plans’ are basically to help us get through the day, but what about planning for success?
There’s a difference between goals and ‘planning for success’.
If you plan to own a home care franchise or this is something you’re looking into right now, you will likely have a number of goals. You have the financial resources and are currently researching the franchise company to make sure this is the right fit for you at this point in your life.
Some of the goals you may have could include making the commitment and signing the contract, hiring people to work for you, marketing and advertising this new enterprise, and keeping track of revenue and expenses. Those are important goals, but what about your plan for success?
It goes beyond the basic forensics.
Planning for success means you are willing to take advice, even from individuals or outside sources you hadn’t previously thought could offer valuable advice. It means learning to be a leader rather than a manager.
A manager is somebody who tells people what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. A leader is somebody who encourages, mentors, teaches, and trusts.
If you’re looking to own a home care franchise, learn to plan for success by finding out what other successful business owners, leaders, and advocates have done in the past. Remember, you will soon be providing an important service to elderly men and women and disabled adults throughout your community.
Find out what they require. Find out what their own reservations, preconceived notions, misconceptions, or fears happen to be about turning to these types of services. When you truly plan for success, you will dig deep, find out what your target market (your ideal client) requires, expects, or would love to see.
You will also develop stronger relationships with not only the franchise company and representatives who are there to support you, but also with your caregivers, administrators, and other employees. You’ll get to know them on a personal level, find out what motivates them, what rewards they respond to best, and this will begin you on your path to true, lasting success as the owner of a home care franchise.
